Cicada

Cicadas are incredible, harmless, insects well known in warmer climates for their amazing buzzing and clicking noises. The male only, is capable of generating these noises and he does so in order to attract a mate. Some cicadas can generate a volume of up to 120 decibels! The life cycle of a cicada is between 2 and 17 years: the majority of which are spent underground as nymphs.
